If someone becomes seriously injured at your workplace, seconds matter in the continuum to preserve life.  It is important that life-saving supplies are readily accessible to employees and they have basic knowledge to provide vital first aid care to a victim.  The Bleeding Control Basics course (BCon) is designed for individuals who have little or no medical training, but who may be the most viable immediate responder to provide initial trauma care and bleeding control to a victim of traumatic injury prior to the arrival of emergency medical services.  A person that is profusely bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes, therefore it is important to quickly stop blood loss.  This training teaches participants how to communicate with 9-1-1 operators effectively, protect the inured from further injury, stop life-threatening bleeding, and provide emotional support.  Participants in the training will be required to demonstrate proficiency in life-saving techniques.
