ANONYMOUS REPORTING
GIVE YOUR EMPLOYEES
A VOICE
SO YOU CAN
SAFEGUARD YOUR WORKPLACE
AND
COMPLY WITH HUMAN RESOURCES POLICIES

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), "best practices" for workplace violence prevention policy, says that any potentially dangerous situations must be immediately reported to a supervisor or the human resource (HR) department. Reports can be made anonymously, and all reported incidents will be investigated. SHRM further recommends that employees are expected to exercise good judgement and inform the HR department if any employee exhibits behavior that could be potentially dangerous, such as:

Discussing weapons or bringing weapons to the workplace

Displaying overt signs of extreme stress, resentment, hostility, or anger

Making threatening remarks or acting in an aggressive manner

Showing sudden or significant deterioration of performance

Displaying irrational or inappropriate behavior, including sexual harassment

Bullying, harassing, or acting abusive towards co-workers

Using alcohol or drugs while at the workplace
